Remembrance Sunday. Lest we Forget.

Yes indeed.

Watching The Royal British Legion Festival now. The BBC can still get some things right.

I fully agree with the sentiment, having served for 23 years myself and met a lot of veterans who gave much more than I ever did.

Paid my respects at the town memorial this morning and was by no means alone in doing so. Proud to see so many people come out to say thank you.

But am I wrong or is that an American kneeling in front of the Union flag? Certainly not an SA80 in his hand.
Maybe a freudian slip

(I stand to be corrected, as I'm a while away from it all and not kept up on the latest Pongo fashions. )

It's an M15. Plenty of Americans died to preserve the life we now have. A sombre service this morning without the crowds and the veterans. The purpose was very much still served tough.

Long may we remember them.

Indeed, I fully agree.
Just thought it amusing that whoever created the image mixed up the US soldier with the British flag.
The sentiment is exactly the same.

Dont think its an M15, to my knowledge there isnt really an M15 rifle, there was a CAR-15 (AR-15) but in terms of designation/family it was part of the M16 line, I'd guess that's an M4 based on the barrel length.

Clichéd but in the very wise words of George Santayana "Those who cannot remember the past are condemned to repeat it" remain true, perhaps now more than ever as the worlds stability seems to be shaking. :(
Realistically for the vast majority, we have no idea how fortunate we are that the horrors of war have never confronted us.

I liked the sentiment.
I served HM for 20 years but not in an armed service so wouldn't have recognised that it wasn't a UK firearm.
