Remembering login..

Is anyone else having the same problem?
When accessing the forum from my Mac, it never remembers the login details. It used to (not that I've had it long) and it's remembered on my work pc and iPad, but the mac seems to forget on this particular forum. Everywhere else it's fine.

:?

Same here, although in my case it will be fine for a while, and then go back to sign in every time. Sometimes I'll get half way through reading new posts and then it will tell me I'm not logged in.

Have tred the usual tricks of deleting the forum cookies, and resetting Safari, but doesn't seem to make a difference.

Never thought it a big enough issue to moan about though :poke:

man about? :poke:

It may be a simple admin oversight. It may be just us. But it's nice to know.

Oddly enough, it's remembered this morning

I have never had this issue at all, so it is difficult to replicate. I have had a few issues with people on AOL internet, but that's AOL's fault (long story). What providers are you guys on?

Sky.

It's certainly confusing as the ipad on the same connection has no issues. (other than safari crashing a lot after it's recent update)

Strange, unusual for Sky... do you have any strange settings that clear your cookies when you shut the browser, or any other software that may do the same?

I'm on BE, and viewing through Safari 5.1.2 on Mac OSX 10.6.8. Haven't tried it with Firefox, but as it's random it won't be easy to replicate.

Doesn't seem to happen on Windows 7 64-bit, running the latest Firefox (11 million or whatever). Don't use IE on either system, so can't comment on that.

For me, it's only here and Pistonheads that give random log-outs, or user-info amnesia. Of course I still get 1 or 2 login requests a year from other sites - just these two that are 'frequent'.

As I said, it's not an issue for me as it only takes a second to log back in. The only issue is when I'm logged out after drafting a reply and pressing preview, and then sometimes go back to see I'm now logged in but the draft reply has been lost.

I always had this on Firefox, but in the last month it has been fine for me. Used to be almost daily I had to re-login, but no more issues anymore lately.

mmm, interesting... although Pistonheads uses some weird ASP forum software, so there is no link in the software we use... usually it is due to a change of IP that can cause the session to fall over (AOL is crap for that) but Be or Sky shouldn't be doing that.

I also have this issue with safari - it has been like it for a few months. Also have sky broadband...

I have had a look and various others have had problems with Safari and the board "feeds" feature. I have disabled feeds (not sure anyone uses them anyway). Let me know if that has cured it for you.

I use from time to time Safari, Firefox, Chrome and mostly SeaMonkey on either my MacBook Pro or iMac and have never had any problem with losing the auto login.

Well it's just asked me to login in again, so maybe something been reset. I'll let you know - although I may just clear the cookies again & restart to make sure.

ok, it's getting a bit confusing now, anyone having the same problem please reply with the following info:

Operating system (Win7 / OSX etc) :
Browser (inc version number) :
Internet provider (e.g. BT, Virgin etc) :
Is problem all the time or intermittent? :

It's a Safari problem, I switched to Firefox and haven't had any issues since. I think we discussed this before, will have a look.
