Remap - Moving to a colder spark plug

Hi Gents,

First post from a long time lurker!

I recently had my car remapped over at BMW specialists Evolve Automotive, and am now making an additional 100bhp/125 ftlbs over stock.

I'm finding that while there are loads of mods & replacement/upgrade parts for the N20 based 3 and 4 series cars there are very few available that fit the E89! :x I've therefore already bought/done the few things I can throughout the car and am now looking at new spark plugs which are due a change.

Has anyone who remapped their 18/20/28i car (with similarly significant gains) swapped to a colder spark plug, and if so, what plugs and what were the results? I know this is very common practice on retuned VAG & Jap cars, but the only info I can find for BMW relates to the N54 engine and I failed to do any data-logging pre-remap to make a comparison myself now...

I'll be the guinea pig if I have to, but would be great if someone has already paved the way!

Thankyou

Hi, I don't think there's any need to fit colder plugs? Bmw didn't change the plugs on the 28i model & that makes nearly 100bhp more than the 18i-it could even be detrimental, taking longer to warm up or cold fouling.
Evolve know what they're doing & I think Imran would recommend this if it was necessary or beneficial in any way?

Hi Rob,

Thanks for the response - Everything you've said has indeed gone through my mind already and I guess I should leave it be unless I run into issues. I've started data logging now so unless I see anything weird then I'll swap like for like.

Thanks
