Reigniting the Z4 flame

Today I’m picking up my black 2006 3.0si (70k) E85 and am super excited.

I used to own a 2004 3.0i for a few years back in 2007 while I lived in London, and while it was a car that I loved to drive, I couldn’t help but feel like I rarely got the best out of it given my location. So with a baby on the way it was traded for a 2006 Audi A6 Avant (think comfortable cruise ship!). After a few years of missing the sportiness I switched to a BMW 535d touring (compromise....) which certainly had more poke and felt a lot more like a smaller car, but over the past 10yrs I’ve always missed the Z4. Now that I’m living in Surrey (be Guildford) and I have better access to good roads it is the day I’ve been waiting for.....

Time to do a little ‘sun dance’ and hope for some nicer weather.

Great to be back reading the forum after all these years.

I also forgot to mention the Westfield 7 (2.0) that I had during that time as a means of scratching the sports car itch. It was amazing but had zero practical use so only covered 900 miles in 5yrs of ownership. Hence the trip down memory lane to the best all round option (in my limited experience).

Cheers all, I will ignore the weather and get out anyway, I'm sure the kids will want an outing (ensue argument over who goes first!) :headbang: !

It must be great to be back in a Z4 - the 3.0Si is a great engine too.

Hopefully you drove home the long way - and it looks like your car already has a ZHP gear-knob!

Hey David.
Farnham Z4 owner here, so I’ll be sure to keep an eye out for you. Yours is eye catching with those wheels, so would certainly notice you. Sorry I missed this thread originally.

Hope your Zed is up to scratch now and you’re enjoying it.

Thanks. It’s been fun getting my hands dirty with the car, after just changing the alternator I think I’m pretty much done now. Going to give it a good drive once restrictions ease up.
