What jack do you have as thats something i need and what do you use when cleaning wheel arches ? normally clean mine with my regular shampoo when washing the car but need to get the wheels off and give them a good clean.

Do you use any dressings or apply any protection. ?

Cheers Gaz.

I wash the wheel well after soaking the well area one at a time with a Simple Green (or equivalent) product. Then I use a wheel well brush for all the visible bits (I remove the rims and spray everything at the beginning of the year and then one more time to prepare for an important judged event: Wheel Well Brush I clean everything I can touch with a brush, rags etc., so take your time. Then I apply 1 coat (don't be stingy with this stuff and cover everything in the wheel well. These products work great Adams Undercarriage Spray. I also use Griot's Undercarriage Spray Griot's but I'm not sure if their product line is available in the UK. Make sure you have the floor covered with cardboard, newspaper anything because this stuff is slicker than snot. I takes overnight for it to dry. The next time you clean your car just wash off with a garden hose. I apply 3 maybe 4 times per year.

I use any synthetic wax on the inner painted rim. This is an impossible area to keep clean but with those open wheel rims I keep on promoting it is bunches easier.

Sears Floor jack. btw after a year +/- all jacks leak, so don't think that you have a dud if you get a Sears Floor jack. Sears Floor Jack Mine was red when I bought it.

Griots thats the name but i think your right about not being able to order from the UK as i liked the look of a detailing kit they did.

Will have a look at the other products tommorrow and as for wheels been using wheel wax for a few years now and like you say makes keeping them clean a much easier job no need for harsh acid wheel cleaners.

Thanks for reply Gaz

Anytime. This is a passion I love. Maybe I didn't have to write that.

Nothing wrong with looking after your car i keep an artists brush in the glovebox for cleaning the dash.

Like the look of this http://www.sears.com/shc/s/p_10153_12605_00950187000P?mv=RR

I don't presently have access to my car to measure the clearance to the jack point. Make sure the 5 1/2" this jack needs will be okay.

Doh  forgot about that think its less than that shame as thats just what i am after a safe way to get all four wheels off the car and then i can clean the wheels in the comfort of a warm garage while she sits on stable supports.

I lift one whole side of the car using the rear jack points, then use jack stands for the front then the rear. It is risky any other way and peeps do get hurt by trying to use a jack to hold up the area they are working. Shite happens and you don't need that type of shite so please use common sense and use jack stands.

I added some photos here to show you what the red calipers look like on my Zed. Not bad, but like I said a lot of work and really not that dynamic a look as I had thought it might have been. It may just be the type of wheels I have and maybe another type would look better.

Caliper color is a great place for personal expression and to make your Z4 "your's".

After what color you like best, body color and a choice to have contrasting or blending in colors will lead you to a color -

I really liked the red with my Merlot 2003 Z4.
Red looked great on my White 2001 Z3.

But on my Black Sapphire Metallic 2005 Z4, I wanted to go "subtle -
