Recommendations for Anglesey. Carol?

I'm off to Anglesey for a couple of days next week and was looking for some pointers on things to see and do. Thanks in advance.

There is some racing on at the race track in Aberffraw this weekend. It's a good track for watching racing on as you can just move around all day and get different viewing points. It's also normally very relaxed in the paddock area so you can just walk down and see a lot of the cars. failing that an ice cream at trearddur bay or a spot of lunch at the White eagle in Rhoscolyn. Enjoy

I was out there two weeks ago to try coasteering, great laugh if you fancy scaring yourself a little. This was me and my mates

Happy to send you the details of our guides if you'd like (not sure if posting their website is a forum no-no)

Have fun

Would also be interested to know this actually, as will be over at Anglesey myself for a couple of days from 18th, 19th & 20th. Also will be fitting in a track day on 19th so hoping for some decent weather as its an amazing track if weather is good.

The track, go drive it!

Else take a peak at some of the Hawks training out of Valley, they're pretty regular.

I am sorry to say that my advice to anyone thinking of going to North Wales is don't do it. We have been away in the UK at least twice per year for the last 12 years so that we can take the dog with us. In that time we have been to the furthest points north, south, east and west on mainland UK and a lot of places in between.

The only place where the locals were unfriendly and it was really difficult to get a decent meal was in North Wales. It was by far away our worst holiday for those reasons. I really want to go to south and mid-Wales but Mrs R sees the Severn estuary as the line that will not be crossed!

So I hope that you fare better than we did!

BTW my name is not Carol! :D

Depends what you like to do?
It has some great driving roads!
Beaumaris with its castle and gaol is really good. One of my favourite places. You can get a trip to Puffin island there.
Sea Zoo is good, small but good.
Town with longest name, Llanfairpwllgwyngyllgogerychwyrndrobwllllantysiliogogogoch. There's a big moochy shop near the railway station.
Neolithic burial mounds.
Red Wharf bay is lovely with some good watering holes.
Plas Newydd house is lovely and has some good Rex Whistler paintings.
There's a golf course too I think.

You will enjoy it, especially if the weather is with you. It's a beautiful place.

Rickrob, that's such a shame you had that experience. We love it in north wales. If you meet hostiles (which you can anywhere but I admit some of the north welsh can be a bit cool) just take no notice of them. The people in the tourist businesses will be fine. Of course :)

From my experience I would have to agree with many of RickRob's sentiments regarding north Wales. However, I wouldn't tar Anglesey with the same brush; I have holiday'd there many times and always enjoyed it. Red Wharf bay is a favourite

Lol north wales can be a little "you're not from round ere" ish if you stumble into some of the more local places. But don't take it to heart too much as you get that in most local places.

Any decent restaurant's near Anglesey circuit? I owe a friend and his wife a meal so would like to make it a decent one.

That would be Menai bridge town
I've done a bit work down there and the locals can appear to be hostile , especially when I speak with a Geordie accent

Thanks for the information folks. Sadly I'm not in the Z as this is going to be the last couple of days of a 2 week trip around Wales that includes hiking, surfing and mountain biking and the boot just isn't quite big enough :P.
