Recommend me a Cordless Vacuum

Not an exciting thread :lol: but it was housecleaning duties today which meant dragging the Dyson from room to room unplugging and plugging etc, worst is the hose extension is dire pulling the cleaner over at the merest hint of stretching it which always hisses me off. Its a DC25 ball. I'm thinking of going over to a cordless vac and heard good things of the Gtech AirRam,

Theres no tools with it but they also do the Multi which when bought together they knock the price down,

Any other recommendations? The market is awash with different types so any ones that stand out would be good to know.

Hi Tim

If you have a dog, don't get one!

Our dog sheds the equivalent of a Yorkshire Terrier every day in fur and the G Tech has a miniscule dust/fur/whatever collection capacity. Otherwise it's OK.

The Dyson cordless is better than than the G Tech (more powerful, but still woeful dust capacity). The only benefit of our rapidly growing vacuum cleaner collection is that I get the best one (a Miele plug-in) to vacuum the cars :thumbsup:

I confess that when I joined the Forum I would never have guessed that my first serious post would be about vacuum cleaners!

I bought the portable mini cordless dyson and its pants , poor battery life ,not great suction ,often cuts out ,and dosent pick up as well as its big brother .Avoid IMHO

Thanks guys, Rick, I don't have any pets, I'm looking at the K9 version of the Gtech as its the more robust version over the standard. I've looked at the Dyson cordless vacs but the bins as said are miniscule, the Gtech uses some sort of dust compression so its compressed into bales.

The Vax looks to be highly rated,

We have a Dyson DC35, if you have any long haired cats/dogs/wife i wouldn't recommend it. Until we got the Dyson i never realised how much my fiancé moults her hair, i'm forever taking the Dyson's head apart to untangle it. Great for the car but i'll be getting a corded vacuum next time out.
 
OK the GTechs landed on Thursday and spend the past few days test driving, handling I would give 9/10, suction as good as the Dyson after 2 days and still on 3 out of the 4 power reserve indicators. Dust is compressed into bales so holds more than you think and is featherlight to move around unlike the Dyson.

The Multi hand held is a great piece of design and good suction with built in xenon headlights and feels good in the hand :? . Have given them a waxing today and dressed the K9s wheels :lol:



Should have gone cordless sooner :)

I've got the dyson dc5 summat and Its great. I have 2 cats who shed loads and the little pet brush thingy on its great.

Battery life is about 25 mins on the turbo function. Which sounds a bit crap but once you've adjusted to a different way if doing stuff it's not so bad. I used to do all the hoovering in one go now I just do it a room at a time as I go making sure I put it back in the cradle often. I my whole flat done with it without it being dead.

It's dust thing is a bit small but its piss easy to empty. Usually I will empty it once during a clean up.

As far as suction goes its as good as my Henry. But it's Tiny which is what u wanted it just sits on its cradle in the cupboard out if the way and easy to reach.
 
Dyson cordless is excellent. Easy to clean out small collection bin. We use it 4 - 5 times a day with having kittens. So really easy to carry on and run round a few rooms. Makes cleaning very easy. Are they good for a car? Bit bulky so a traditional hose it better.
 
Problem with Dyson well for me is they don't do a traditional upright cordless Vacuum, they're either the handheld type with roller brush head which are pain to use or the drag around type which I find more inconvenient. Don't understand why they haven't ventured into an upright like the Vax/Gtech as I'm still pleased with my Dyson ball.
