So had the Z4 about a month now but only driven it a few times as I've been working away... so I decided to get to know her better and made the most of a decent dry day.

I took pictures before during and after but I'm sorry, they're only iPhone ones so the detail isn't that great but I'm sure you'll get the idea.

I have to say I get quite a lot from washing my cars; did the wife's CRV yesterday and my turn today. I decided to reuse as much old products as possible that I had lying in the garage rather than blow a whole load of cash on new stuff and get carried away. I plan to polish it next week and will do the same; might get a Meguiars G220 later in the year and get some Dodo action going but for now it's whatever is around.

As you can see, it was in a bit of a state to start with:

Lots of swirl marks:

Nasty hood condition:

Bad mark on bonnet (probably from bird sh1t):

Using the trusty old Halfrauds power washer (half price in sale last year - it's not *that* bad) gave a good soaking of APC:

Left that to dwell while I worked on the roof with AG fabric roof cleaner:

First rinse, looking better already:

My first attempt at home-made snowfoam using cheap car shampoo (!):

Guess I need a better snowfoam lance and better product for that one..!

Tyres were super dirty so gave a good soaking in tyre foam:

Second rinse, coming on:

Clay time, Meguiars quick detailer as lubricant. This is the dirt after just the top of the front wing:

All residue washed off with Turtlewax nano wash & wax and Meguirs wash mitt, then rinsed again:

Nice beading to say I don't know the last time it was polished!

Fabric sealed with AG fabric hood protector, Meguiars endurance gloss on the tyres - job done!

Obligatory muscular wing shot:

Well chuffed.

It's only when you get stuck in like this, you know "hands on" that you get a feel for the sheer beauty of the design. Some really nice subtle touches here and there. I'm over the moon.

Whole set (9..!) of black & silver carbon badges to go on tomorrow. You can already see the Mangowalk 3" stubby and I have xenon white LED sidelights. Next week I'll do a good polish and then save to get the 108s redone (one hass *shockingly* bad corrosion  ). Paperwork should be done my mid week for the personal plate - already had one made up ready to go!

Cheers guys..!

That really came up well. Bet you're well pleased with that for a day's work

If oyu do the badges you may need to grind the rear shoulders at 9.00 and 3.00 o'clock off to seat it. The steering wheel is a pressed metal one and you'll need to tease the lugs out, while at all times expecting the bag to go off in your face ..... Right PITA to do.

Good job

Have you got any close-up pics of the roof? (before and after). My roof fabric has a couple of small creases and I've been thinking about what to use, but your AG stuff appears to have done an amazing job!

Small question though: what have you used to finish off and protect the paintwork? I didn't see any mention of a sealant or wax...

Cheers

I'll try and take some more detailed after hood shots later.

You're right - no sealant or wax yet... that's next week's job; I'll probably just give it a quick rinse first then on with a couple of hand-applied coats of eithher Zymol or Megs Gold Class, not decided which yet. I'm off the the States next week so will try and hunt out some bargains, maybe even get a PC or Megs G220 if they're reasonable.

Also gotta tackle the inside and leathers.

Anyone got any exhaust tip tips..? :P

Cheers

I've just ordered some Finish Kare #1000P sealant to try. I've previously used Chemical Guys sealant and their XXX wax but have heard good things about this Finish Kare stuff, particularly the durability. Good for lazy folk like me if it means it lasts longer :)

Batesyboy notice your not to far from me, live in Hailsham and works in Burgess Hill, will have ot keep my eyes open, PVR is also not far away.

Nice job there mate, I would get some wax on it what ever buget you have after claying her.

This is a good price and gets a raving reviews.
