Rear window demist works for hardtop but not softtop

My hardtop rear window demist works but not the softtop.
Is this likely to require a new cable?

Searched for threads but couldn't spot anything similar. Anyone have any bookmarks for any that I might have missed?

First thing to check is the fuse for the circuit and power connection to the window element, is it connected and has it got power when the switch is set? If it is connected and has pwer then check the element in the glass, test for continuity with a volt meter set to continuity, if the element is ok then you should hear the tone the meter will put out indicating a good circuit. If the circuit is good then have another look at the power connection.
