Rear window and wind deflector cleaning.

Sunny day.... drive out. Then home for a clean.
Thought I would clean the inside glass. Windscreen no worries....
Rear window inside.. what a pig... four joints in one arm would be good...! Got it done tho....

Then the wind deflector.... Thought a damp cloth would sort it out.
Wrong... the damp cloth turned black. I had to shampoo the deflector... turned her sink into a black mess!
God ..how much dirt... all the road grime from 2004 to now I suspect. Really really filthy...

All good and clean now tho.. A satisfying afternoon.

I usually clean the deflector each time I do the interior. Fist few times it just turned the Johnson baby wipes black. Not too bad after that. Does get dirty again though so try not to leave it 13 years next time.

I have never thought of cleaning inside the rear window, but then I seldom have to look through it, just keep the roof down. :D

Quick tip - Roof up, and parcel shelf in lower position, unclip the fabric by pulling the rubbear seal towards you from the edge of the shelf, you can now reach up and clean the glass easily.

Hehe... no I've only had the car 6 weeks.. the last owners left it 13 years!

Nice tip for access from Mike. I will try that next time.
Thanks.. Jim

Mine was the same, wiped it with a damp cloth when I first got the car 6 weeks(ish) ago and I wondered wtf was going on, I thought I was stripping the black die out of the mesh. 13 years of pure filth moved onto the microfiber cloth.

I just half open the roof and then clean the window whilst standing outside, even easier

I did mine last year and ran it under the tap, black water yuk. 9 years of dirty air which I blame on the diesels
