Rear View Mirror

Evening all, so I managed to knock my rear view mirror off today on the 1 series and was wondering what you’ve used when in the same situation. I have seen the Loctite glue from Halfords which has good reviews so I’ll give that a go. Any other recommendations would be welcome

Sorry can't offer any help but reading your post this came to mind. To take a quote from the Original Cannon Ball Run. "What's behind me is not important". When the Italian driver (believe) in Ferrari threw the rearview mirror behind him (after a crash).

For a VW it was actually ok to buy the oem pad for about a fiver. Not tried the BMW though

Did it just come away from the mount (in which case it clips back in place) or did pull a chunk of glass with it? I've managed to do the latter twice on two cars and have resorted to epoxying the fragment back in place

Perhaps try giving Autoglass a ring and see what they recommend?

Whatever it is they use to fill chips must be suitable

From my experience on holiday this year - Just buy the proper pad!
(Although my problem was with the Dash Cam)

A local dealer/service agent re fitted it while on holiday in SW Germany

Thanks for your replies, I think I’ll give the Loctite a go and see what happens.

Wife pulled the mirror off in a Fiesta we had many years ago. Superglue fixed it for the time I owned the car (about 2 more years)

So I used the Loctite 319 and it has worked well. A bit awkward but got the car and windscreen nice and warm and carefully followed the instructions. Held it in place for a few minutes until it held then left it overnight. Adjusted the mirror today before going out and will put the casing on tomorrow

Fortunately I never need to touch it as it is always right for me. No idea if Mrs PVR can see anything , perhaps she doesn’t use it

In my experience, women generally have little idea what's in front of them when driving, let alone behind.
Now most cars have vanity mirrors in the sun visors (with lights), there really is no need for a lady to even be conscious if the rear view mirror is there, or not.
As for door mirrors; my wife thinks they are 'width gauges'.

Ah yes, bit like parking sensors “that always go off” hence can be ignored
