Apparently "Tyre Leaders" in Germany are the cheapest place to go? Mixed reviews on delivery/stock, but the best for price over BlackCircles et al.

Just because it's OEM doesn't mean it's optimal. I've always found 255 tyres look low on pressure with their bulge. 245 is apparently the optimal width for an 8.5" rim so thought it was worth a go.
10mm cannot affect traction that much. They are literally over 50 percent down on grip I'd say. I'll keep being in and see how things go. Maybe a pressure adjustment is also in order.

I meant 117 and 107 - the only difference seems to be tread pattern, with the latter being smoother / less grooved. Oh, and a lower rating in the wet for 107. So I guess 117 is the one to go for.
Supposedly done the impossible and made it perform better and last longer - just like Goodyear did with the F1A to the F1A2

They've got good reviews, but not seen an info on how long they last.
My last set of front PSS have just been changed after 41,500 miles. Rears are averaging about half that. If they last anywhere near that then they'll be a bargain.
My front Conti's lasted just over 40k, originals apparently. The rears are not far away from needing done, and with some serious road trip / hooning in the very near future I'm thinking of changing them. Issue is that I swapped some 235/45/18 contisportcontact 3s that I bought on here onto the front and they are rubbing on the front edge of the arch liners on both sides. I thought they'd be fine (as did others), but looking online they seem to have extra rim protection which is probably the issue. I don't like it, so I'm thinking I need to change them too. And 4 new tyres is not really in my current budget

Bugger on them rubbing ! I had them on non M Z so different wheel offset & also SE suspension .
Worth selling on & throw the cash into the new tyres ?
I certainly don't think the Hankook's would feel anything other than premium & most likely better all round than the Conti's ?
Yeah, if someone on SE springs and RFTs wants to go non-RFT then these would be a cheap front set-up to get going. They'd probably be ok on Sport suspension to with non-M offsets. Guess I'll just have to bite the bullet - was worth a punt at the time though

I had the same experience as yourself but after much hooning in all sorts of weather I'm sold on them - been excellent.

I do a few track days, Ring trips and Welsh/Peak District/Lake District hoons a year, but that probably only accounts for 20% of my mileage. Another would be that I'm getting older and slower
However I seem to be able to keep up with the other drivers (i.e. friends in similar cars) on track and they're using twice as much fuel and tyre life as me :evil:

Well our Zed is mainly used for enjoyment, 12000 miles a year, so it would reverse your %ages but I'm still impressed by those figures.
Even so, got to be smooooth then. Followed you on the recent Wales hoon and can vouch for all of the above
