Rear Strut Brace

Just browsing the bay like you do and came across this rear brace for the E85/6

Now where it is located I cannot believe this can add any additional stiffness as I would have thought the rear panels which are attached at the same point are doing the same job. If it was on the rear suspension it might be a different matter.

Anybody agree/disagree?
 
I enjoy the information on the page, very... informative, strut braces here I come, also legitimate reason for lowering suspension...
