Rear Springs

I had the rear tires off cleaning the roof drains today and thought I'd check the rear springs as well. They both look fine, however, it looks like one has been changed at some point. The left side has four yellow paint marks on each coil, but no part numbers or indication who made the spring.

The right side has a genuine BMW spring with one green paint mark and the following part #: 33536760606. when I look this part number up it shows it's for a 2003-2008 Z4 3.0i but without sport suspension. When I ran my VIN number one of the options was sport suspension, besides I thought all 3.0 cars came with the sport suspension.

So is the spring on the left original or is the spring on the right, OR, have both been replaced at different times and are not the same spring.

My real concern is that I don't have the same spring rate on both sides. It seems to ride and handle fine, but I haven't driven another one so I can't compare.

Any ideas?
 
Checked the part numbers of the rest of the front and rear suspension pieces and i do have the non-sport suspension, so the springs are fine. I thought all the 3.0 cars came with the M sport suspension, especially since I have the DTC and SPORT buttons, but apparently some came with, and some without the sport suspension, at least in North America anyway. Is it similar in Europe?

At first I was a little disappointed, but really the car rides rough enough, and for the roads around here I'm glad I don't have the sport suspension.
 
MSport suspension was standard on the 3.0 in the UK with the option to delete and have standard instead.
 
i suspect that over the years your car has (red that as will have) had at least one set of rear springs done as they are a weak point.

now not to sound cheap, but not all garages will replace like for like, and especially if the garage just orders from a generic part company. so wouldnt worry too much, as the springs are all rated..... if yur really concerned, buy some new ones :thumbsup: then you know all is well.
