Rear Parking Sensor Replacement - Help please

Hi,

I have a failed parking sensor, I've determined which one through testing the sonic clicking etc when put in reverse with the ignition on.

Having done a bit of digging, and calling Sopers they want £134.37 for a painted OEM part (Montego Blue is special order so 2-4 wk lead time also, however no price premium - they're all crazily expensive apparently!), I've found the following:

I'd rather not remove the bumper to check the part, refit, order, remove, fit, refit etc, so is there anyone out there that can confirm is this is correct part?

Is there any difference, between the 2 i.e could I just get the cheaper?

Also, with regards painting, I guess I can just get a paintshop to match and paint - if you have experience of doing this even better!

My main question was whether anyone has had experience of replacing and recognised the shape as being correct, and I also saw this this it looks different, but it is genuine BMW and in the correct colour (the price differential bit was an aside question really.)

WRT painting, do you have experience, i.e do these work if painted. Sopers said painting would invalidate their warranty hence ordering a factory painted part.

The shape looks fine from memory and looking at the others listed.

Painting shouldn't be a problem, people paint them all the time, just need to make sure it's not really thick.

The key issue with painting them is that you don't get any paint inside or bridging the open sensor ring which is why they're only lightly sprayed with paint.

I have a faulty one at the moment and had the bumper off recently to investigate. They are the right shape. They clip into a flanged holder that is plastic welded to the inside of the bumper. I'm waiting to see if mine starts working again when the weather is a bit drier, if not I'll be replacing mine.
