Rear parking sensor malfunction .

Hi all.

When I engage reverse gear the CONTINUOUS parking sensor tone is activated as if something is very close behind.

When I actually do a rear test approach to an object the tone does not change.

Has anyone else had the same problem and if so any ideas on how to fix it ?

I have this; it's one of two things:

1) one of your sensors is dodgy - with the car in reverse put your ear to each one and if you hear a ticking noise, its working - no noise = duff. Replace sensor.

2) Then, when that doesn't work, the control module is known to go bad. It lives in the boot, behind the panel at the right-hand side I think. I don't think it can be repaired, only replaced. Haven't got around to doing that yet.

Try blasting wd40 into the groove on each sensor snd leave overnight. It’s often water that gets into them that causes problems, especially if you jet wash.
