rear number plate

Hi, has anyone got an idea of a price for a rear number plate supplied and fitted from a main dealer?
The only reason I am asking is my car had been damaged when I returned from holiday, Hilton Manchester Airport, with Apcoe Parking . Quote..................
"unfortunately when transferring your vehicle the driver assigned was situated at the hotel exit barrier when a vehicle behind him made contact with the rear of the vehicle causing a dent to your boot lid along with a cracked number plate.
as the damage incurred whilst we were in charge of your vehicle we are liable to cover the costs of the repair, the dent has been removed whilst you were away by our accredited business partner Chips /away.
Due to legalities we are unable to repair the number plate so if you can obtain a quote for replacement and email a copy of the quote/invoice I will ensure that you receive a cheque to cover this cost along with a refund for parking and reimbursement for fuel used to transfer your vehicle to the Chips away body shop"
There was a pic of the damage, not very clear as it had been raining mileage was 34.5,
To be fair it was sorted when we got back and I wouldn't have known except for the damaged plate, if anything the rear of my car looks better, im assuming its been machine polished.
Thoughts? :?
Allan.

I'd have been mighty pissed if someone had repaired a car of mine prior to me seeing it & letting me make my own decision about where to have it repaired.

I'd imagine that had it not been for the number plate they'd have just repaired it & not said anything...

I'd be having the car inspected first... then call a dealer to get an actual quote, you're not paying for it so I'm not sure what asking on here achieves, unless you're looking for the most expensive

Im not bothered about the plate really, I was just wondering how other members would feel if their car had been repaired without seeing the damage first . :driving:

I'd be pissed if they had painted it when a PDR man could remove.

What did it need?

I'd not be best pleased...! If the boot lid was damaged I'd want to make sure nothing else was damaged along with it.

Well it was part of the T&Cs you signed up to when you booked the parking.

If it were me, I'd be happy they got it all done without causing me any bother. As long as the job has been done properly, which I'm sure it has, what's the issue?

I think the issue is that you can't be sure it was done properly if, as the owner, you never saw and had a chance to inspect the original damage.

I would be very pissed that they fixed my car without my knowledge but I do not know the rules of airport parking and what you signed I always take a cab
