Rear LED bar very loose

My rear LED bar is very loose, the little hard to reach nuts are done up all the way yet I can still seam to manage to pull it forward a fair amount and it rattles around and out whilst driving, its raining tonight and I need to drive very shortly so I am really hoping the rain does not short it :(

Is there any way to fix this problem, I have no idea what is causing it to be loose, I don't know how it works as all I can see are bolts that screw up tight to screws that push through a hole in the boot lid and I can't see anything past that.

Thank you for any input, greatly appreciated, I done a search on here and didn't find anything all that relative to fixing this issue.
 
You are missing the tension ring that sits between the nuts and the unit itself.

However I have the tension ring, it was tight however is now loose, I can pull the tailight out till the hex nut (item 2) hits the back of the tailgate, the only thing that can make sense to me is that the tension ring is supposed to sit in between the het nut and the rear tailgate instead of pulling through it. ?
 
Looking from the outside, you would have the light, then the spring, then push it through the holes and then the nut which you tighten.

You have to push the light against the spring to be able to get the nuts on the other side, and when you tighten them the light should sit very snug (don't overtighten as that will crack the light).

If it is too lose, it sounds like the springs are not working?

That don't sound right to me :?
The light goes on from the outside then the spring and nut from the inside.
 
No it's not right.

You push the light through and then the spring and nut from the other side.

Are the springs round the right way?

Yes the light has been pushed through from the outside then the springs and the nuts on the other side. I will pull it all apart today and get in there to have a proper look at it to see whats going on. because its loose it has also now chipped the top left of the tail bar light :(

It just makes sense to me that the springs are supposed to push up against something of the car, not push through to the back of the tail bar, as that won't hold it in place.. Again no idea as I am very new to owning a z4 (4 days actually) so once I pull it all apart today hopefully I can see what is at fault.

The wide end of the spring should go on first, this will press against the boot lid holding the light in place.

If you remove the two plastic handles/covers in the boot you can see what is going on easier.
 
Just an update, I pulled it apart and it seems they put it together wrong, the washer that is to ensure the spring doesn't pull through the boot was just infront of the nut, so the big end of the spring just enwound itself inside the boot easy as there was nothing to hold it in place.

The bad news is that the far right screw would not come loose, I spent a solid half hour on it and it just kept twisting the whole thread bar.. however I atleast got the other two done up quite snug so it shouldn't really matter anyway.

I should probably replace it becuase with it being lose it broke off the top left of the lens so there is a small break in the seal for water to get inside. however its still working and to save a hundred dollars it will have to do for the next little while. I want to upgrade my headlights to the CCFL Angel Eyes with HID 10k bulbs first.

the 8mm deep socket is like 2quid in halfords fwiw if it's hard to reach, bought one myself to do my replacement when it arrives this week
