Hey people i need a little help
I have an Australian spec z4 and i want to get the clear lights package for my car (i want to make the 4 white spot look)

However the seller on ebay has asked me if the rear left fog light should be red or white. Can anyone tell me which colour bulb i need?

i have taken a picture of the rear. am i right in assuming the fog light is the inside of the smaller circle on the left side?

I think you are right in what you are saying but to be clear the fog light is on the offside of the car (drivers side) and then it's the left hand inner round section that is red on your picture.

I've read this a few times and remain confused. If you swap to 4 white spot then all the centres are white ??? All you need to do is have a silvered bulb that shines red for a foglight.

You of course need to consider how Aus lights are set up as it could be different to other countries, but yuor wiring loom controls which lights do what.

yer thats right all 4 spots will have white lenses. i just need to figure out if the bulbs should be white or red.

currently the left bulb is white, but i think i might tell them red. that way if the right side should be red as srhutch suggested, i will have the right bulb and if it should be white, i can just re use an original bulb. it should work, still not 100% sure

OK - keep in mind the red bulb should be a silvered bulb that shines red, else it will be clearly visible through the white lens and ruin the effect

thanks for the tip, i wouldn't have figured that out until it was too late.

I decided to send the above pic to the seller, and he said he has the right lights for it, now i just have to wait for them to arrive from germany. :tumbleweed:

I Have a new question about the above pic of my car. Im getting personalised plates for it.

Should i get Silver Background With Black Writing or Black Background With Silver Writing

The Plates Will Only have 5 Letters on them. and they are 372mm x 100mm in size. Opinions Please...  :?

Not familiar with Aus plates so difficult to know. Silver background sounds like it woudl blend in better with the car.

Check your drill holes from the previous plate that they are covered. I run a 5 digit plate and had to be careful.

my girlfriend likes the silver background too. now its 2 votes to 1 i think your single vote may persuade me. :poke:
will see if i can get a more accurate pic of the possible end result. Is there any way to change the name of this post, ive changed the theme a bit now?

Drill holes are all good, the plates will fit in the same spots. but they cost $420  so dont wanna choose the wrong colour

ok i have made a dodgy comparison pic, only downside is the website pics are kind of cartoony but its the best i can find right now

SO any more opinions on which plates suit the car better?

by the way i installed a MFSW this weekend and it all worked great but the spokes on the steering wheel are a kind of dull grey color and my old wheel had shiny chrome spokes, are these spokes cheap to buy? or can i paint the new ones with some kind of chrome? any suggestions would be good. have included a pic of before and after mfsw Istall on the weekend

I have just paid for some new inside door handles as the chrome had peeled off (its actually a thin lair of metal on top of the plastic that peels off) I believe BMW call this 'chomeline' on the options. Well big problem... they have discontinued it so only the pearl grey silver finish is available like your new steering wheel. I agree it does not look as good but I am pretty sure the new ones wont be cutting someones hand due to metal peeling off! Where did you get your wheel? I have always wanted MF. I was thinking of getting an M wheel. As when I tested the M years back it was the main thing I noticed apart from more top end power..... it seems they only come with a black finish which IMO looks even worse :-(

they arrived today pearl silver part numbers B51.41.8.040.695 £18.38 each its called a 'Clasp' if anyone else has the same problem, very easy to install, just slides on.

i have the chromline door handles too but mine are still in good condition (no peeling yet). thats rather annoying there not made anymore tho.
I got my wheel of ebay for $170 delivered, or about £100 delivered in your currency. I wanted the "M" wheel but they seem alot harder to come by. The fit is very straight forward basically 4 push in electrical clips and 1 bolt, took me about 20 mins to do (after reading the post in the how to section).

i found the chromeline trim i want on ebay also, however its a bit more expensive then im willing to pay. http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/BMW-E85-E86-Z4-Chromeline-Steering-Wheel-Spoke-Trim-Set-_W0QQcmdZViewItemQQhashZitem2eac838341QQitemZ200462795585QQptZMotorsQ5fCarQ5fTruckQ5fPartsQ5fAccessories
I don't suppose anyone on here has a spare set to sell?

oh PS: I may have a standard chomeline steering wheel for sale if anyone is interested...

damn that price on those plastic pieces is crazy!! I had to fork out £97 in total for 4 pieces of interior trim, the tray below the handbrake had scratched from putting coins/iphone in there (which I am sure is the purpose of that area?) the grey had worn off and was showing black. Badly made in my opinion! Nothing should be peeling off really esp the door handle (1 did but I changed as a pair) .

i hate replacing OEM bits, its always more expensive then it should be. However i have not had to replace any on my Z4. Mine seems to be top quality, no scratches or marks on the trim. and nothing is too faded (except gear knob, but thats expected). Maybe the previous owner of your Z was a bit careless/rough with the car, but i cant fault mine.

i had an issue with the alarm beeping at random times, but i played with the bonnet sensor and it is now fixed :). I only have one OEM part i need to look at... I have a crack in my rear left rim
