Just had my car in for it's second MOT, it failed the first time round on the offside rear coil spring "Offiside Rear Coil Spring Mounting Insecure (5.3.1 (a) (i)".
Bearing in mind i'm on Eibach lowering springs, i found out that the damper that was installed on my car on that one corner was not the same as the others, and appeared longer than the rest, thus when the car is jacked up the spring was very loose.
Went out and bought a matching Bilstein lowered damper, fitted and just had it MOT'd again today, failed for the exact same thing.
I tested it before i lowered the car back on the ground and it the spring was marginally loose, but nothing that i haven't seen before and certainly much better than previously. It re-seats perfectly fine and has zero way of getting out of the mounting points.
Am i missing something? I've got both the rubber/plastic pieces at each end of the spring, surely there is no physical mounting to the car? I can't see any difference from the other side.
The garage haven't called me yet, but i can see it's failed when i check the reg. When they call i'm going to ask them to show me in person the issue, and i've printed off a snippet of the MOT regulations saying it should only fail if the spring fails to re-locate correctly when lowered.
