Hi All I just opened the centre console and there somehow seems to be a lose bit of plastic that covered the little light switch that has a small metal strip over the top and when it is pressed down it turns the light off in the console.

I have no idea how this bit of plastic came lose or where and how to replace the little switch.

Has anyone any ideas ?

Normally something falls into the gap between the metal contact and the plastic tab that rotates with the hatch cover and turns the light off. Then when you close the hatch it snaps the plastic tab off. Common problem! I bet some of them got snapped the day the car left the dealer. :(

Usually resolved by epoxying the tab back on (if you still have it) or carefully tapping a small screw into the plastic barrel of the hatch hinge. Either way - it is much easier to repair if you remove the hatch cover, which I think is only held in place by a couple of screws.

Mine did exactly the same. Was loose for a while then broke off :( I just took the bulb out until I get it fixed.

No luck I tried taking the two screws put but was unable to pull the little door out, I was afraid of causing more damage.

Below are a couple of links to show the parts that are out of place:

You just have to pull it, harder than you'd like but it will be fine. Do one side at a time.

Tapping a small screw sounds like a great idea since I didn't find the broken piece of plastic - I'll give it a shot. Thanks for the suggestion
