Ok, so after fitting the E46 330 calipers and 325mm discs to the front, can anyone tell me if the rear discs and calipers (320mm) from the same car will fit my Z? (2003 3.0i)

Cheers

Mike

No they won't fit.
Main issue for any rear upgrade is the handbrake whichis built into the top hat of the rear discs.

Cheers. Couldn't make out from the pics he sent me if that was the case on the 330 rears, although I couldn't see a handbrake lever on the calipers, so I assume it also has the shoes inside the disc, but just different dimensions. Damn..

Do you know if there is a straight bolt on upgrade from another car CJ?

Mike

where is the best place to buy front "E46 330 calipers and 325mm discs" brand new?

wouldn't want to buy a second hand set and risk them seizing if they are old.

Don't know of a bolt on conversion and mirnsurenits required as most of the braking is in the front

I'd buy second hand and just use them to trade in if one sticks or is problematic

Lots of place sell refurbished if you Google

how much heavier are you making the steering by putting bigger callipers and disc on?. The e46 330ci needs bigger brakes because its a heavier car surely

The difference is not noticeable, remember the 3.0si has these same brakes.

yeah I've done big brake upgrades on light cars before mainly fords but its normally big heavy wheels that normally effects handling anyway was just a thought as callipers do weigh alot. I'm sure the pre facelift is still lightest Z4 and facelift was abit heavier which is why it needed 30+bhp more hence bigger brakes and is only 0.2s quicker. I've really never found the smaller brakes a problem stopping on road or track but aesthetically it does look worse. My old 330ci brakes seem huge now looking at the z4 ones I'm sure they was 325mm or 300mm I cant remember never really bother looking into size on my z4 as I knew they looked smaller

I have 330 CD ones on the front now, 325mm, up from either 290 or 300, big increase in stopping power :)

yeah stamp on the brakes at last minute job. The 330cd was another heavy car tbh one of the heaviest E46 why it needed those bigger brakes like 330ci. I wonder if anyone's tried to fit E46 M3 brakes now their huge
