Rear brake squeal

My rear left brakes are squealing intermittently. The pads are OEM and have plenty of life left in them and the discs are in good condition. I tried cleaning all components with brake cleaner and applying copper grease to the rear of both pads and reinstalling, but this only seems to cure it for a few hundred miles. Any other suggestions? - should I try a brake pad adhesive to bond the pad to the piston?
 
Did you do the edges of the backing plate as well as the back of it if that makes sense?

Yes I did coat the edges of the pads that make contact with the caliper (ie not the top edge). I wonder if this could have been washed away though as the edges are more exposed than the back face. this might explain why it worked for a few hundred miles.

I don't think the piston is sticking since it only make the noise under braking, the wear of the pads is the same as the other rear wheel and I have covered over 1000 miles since it started making the noise. If it was a sticking caliper I think the pads would be significantly more worn on the affected side.
 
The pads not touching a lip on the disc is it? That can cause noisey brakes too!
 
If the performance is not affected and you have reinstalled, it could just require some millage, I wouldn't worry to much unless the noise is unusual (ie not brake squeal) and drive for a thousand miles and see how it goes. I do get many different sounds from the brakes and have no concern about them as I've checked them many times. Try some hard braking, rebed etc if you haven't done so already.
