Rear brake pipe - something to keep an eye on

I have been busy dismantling my Zed breaker and come across this after removing the left rear arch liner. The car is only 8 years old, the corrosion looks worse than it is but left unchecked could see the pipe rust bad and fail. I remember reading a similar story on one of the Supra forums but the rust was much worse on them 20 year old Supras.

Anywho, may be worth checking on some of the early cars as I dont think you can see the pipe very well without taking the arch liner off, so may be missed on the MOT...the pipe is secured further up towards the top of the fuel tank, I just moved it down to make it easier to see.

That's definitely an MOT fail if the tester was able to see it. You've got an interesting opportunity to dissect a Zed there, is the the shell as rust free as it should be?

When #69 was up on the ramps for her MOT the day I traded her in, there was the tiniest amount of surface corrosion on the shell up in a recess just in front of the rear wheels. Worth checking, especially with all the salt on the roads

Well the shell is in pretty good condition as far as I can see. If I had a plasma cutter it would be in bits by now!!!

I don't think that pipe will ever be seen above the tank, maybe if the tester looked really hard for it.
