Re-trim

Hi

I had my seats done in my TT some time ago and now I want the red in the ZED. The guy I used does some serious cars such as Bentley etc and I know his work is excellent, however he has just advised that to to door cards I will need airbags switched back on at BMW?

The price he is charging is great but not sure about the air bag situation? Gurus help!

erm I don't think so.

You don't even need to disconnect the battery (although it is advised) just don't insert the key when removing anything.

tbh even if you do need a reset takes minutes.

PRetty much what Ba3bas says..

Take the battery out, leave it for 30 minutes, and NEVER put the key in the ignition with either airbag disconnected.

However, if he's just retrimming the door cards / seats, there's no need to unplug the airbag or sensors, so you should be 100% safe.

On a different note, I'd be VERY interested in an idea of costs for the work?

+1
Do the door cards need to be specially stitched to allow for airbag deployment?
And can he get hold of bmw individual leather? Such as amerone or caramel?

I know of a black in Birmingham that can get genuine leather from source. Did my mates e46 m3 and even had the leather thinned to wrap the dash underside.

The reason to use genuine imola red is that the colour matched.

More expensive but not too badly priced
