Re-proofing

Hi all-going to re-proof the roof with AG (i know some people are against using this),but my question is-ive read some of you trap paper/cloths in the roof to protect the paint/windows-do you fully close the roof doing this?-thanks
 
Can't help you with the cloth/paper. But I would definitely recommend using some 3M Masking Tape: http://www.cleanyourcar.co.uk/accessories/3m-3434-masking-tape/prod_79.html
 
I'm going to reproof mine with AG tomorrow - would have done it today but the missus wanted to test drive an TT cabriolet.

As I recall from the last time, I simply carried some kitchen towel with me as I went round the car and instantly wiped off any protector from the bodywork or windows.

Nothing too complicated there.

I thought about this one the other day and was thinking that you could just lay an old sheet so that it draped over the screen and side windows, then almost shut the roof completely.....just leaves the rear window to mask off. :?

None whatsoever - I recommend it (though I'm no detailing expert!). It was very easy to use and once protected, lasted around 5 months. Quite a while back I posted how I went through the process.

The key is not to scrub hard with the sponge on the fabric when shampooing.
 
Try using a 2" paint brush. I don't do any masking when I do mine, just pour some proofer into a small container and brush it on carefully. Only place you have to be careful of is the little gutters over the door windows.
