Re-named JS thread - respect revoked

Not even vaguely related to motoring, but Jimmy Saville was one of the great entertainers, a huge contributor to children's charities, and a pillar of my childhood - even if he never got round to Fixing It For Me :-)

just checked, sad day

1 of my favourite sayings is 'Dear Jim, will you fix it for me'

...apart, that is, from his dubious sexuality.....there have been some extremely unpleasant rumours circulating around the BBC for many years, you can google plenty for yourselves.....

Personally I just thought he was a creepy weirdo....

as long as he's not another gary glitter it doesn't bother me what sexuality he was

@ Lacroupade - with the greatest of respect, I hadn't heard any of the rumours you imply, google is not the bastion of free speech and truth that some believe it to be, and if the BBC is like any other large corporation then rumour mills abound for many reasons, often for the wrong ones. There is however no denying his philanthropic contribution to society, or the fact that he was at one time a prolific (if eccentric) entertainer - if you think he was creepy then fine, but he's now dead and I'd rather you didn't demean my small mark of respect to him by bashing this thread. Thanks.

if you want some insight then watch 'louis theroux meets jimmy'

I've watched all of louis's work, but this fly on the wall is one of his best

I bow to your obviously superior powers of attention, deduction and knowledge

I also stand by the fact I had never heard any of the rumours, but retract any respect for the chap stated in my original post given the recent news of his disgusting antics.

Wondered how long it would take for someone to drag this up - nice first post in (literally) months Lacroupade, welcome back.

Not.

Bing - your opinion was based on the facts you knew at the time, nothing wrong with that.

Urgh, I hate agreeing with that Scot :)
