Rattly Clutch (3.0Si) - Video

Here is a video of my noisy/rattly/'bag of rocks' clutch. You can hear me press the clutch in and out to show the difference in sound.

Anyone got any views? I've seen people say they have the same issue, but wondering if anyone has had this resolved at a dealer...

Scenarios:

Clutch fully out - Slight rattling
Clutch almost out, with a very light pressing - Heavy rattling
Clutch fully in - No rattling

Hope someone has some advice.

is it a diesel engine you have under there ?........sounds terrible. Sorry thats no help but somebody with more knowledge will be along soon im sure.
 
Mine sounds pretty much the same but not as loud. TBH I dont think its a problem as every z4 I have looked at does the same. On a side not the 3.0 engine does sound like a 4cyl at idle! Problay because of the lack of sound deadening on the underside of the bonnet.
 
Hmmm, I'm slightly comforted by that thread you've posted, since it seems the same across all 3.0 cars, not just the Z4, and certainly not just mine. It sounds awful though, and mine is still loud, as you've said. Does yours get louder if you slightly depress?
 
I have the same problem, it's somewhat intermittent. Dealer told me nothing is wrong and made a record of my compliant.
