Rattling door lock knob

Seems I have a persistent rattle from the drivers side door lock knob

Just as bad whether door is locked or not

Seems the knob is loose and rattling against the hole - can they be removed and glued back in place - it doesn't seem to unscrew?

Check your tyre pressures, I find when you hear a rattle from the door lock knob area its down to my tyres needing a top up, I find when mine drop by 2 psi I get the rattle.

Mine rattle like a bitch when the doors are unlocked. I drive with the doors locked all the time which reduces the rattle but it's still there. I have tried wrapping felt around the hole where the door pin goes down but that just came loose.

Any other ideas on this?

I get the same from the passenger door lock/unlocked black pole/knob rattling in it's hole. I'm guessing some damping is worn ?

I have no idea, it's the same fitment on each side though so I'd be surprised if both sides had worn equally

I think it's a black foam/rubber pad inside the door that keeps a bit of pressure on the door lock pin (the metal inside the plastic) causing it not to vibrate. If it's worn out the door lock black peg can vibrate.

It's unlikely this is the problem unless you have had the door card off, but I've managed to cause a rattle from my locking pin through incompetence... Had my door card off to sort a problem with the rubber window guide but had to stop halfway through for lunch. Door in pieces, window down cos no rubber guide on to protect it, thought I'd shut the door and lock the car as it was outside on the drive.

Except I forgot that the locking pin hangs vertically down when the card is off because it's on a kind of circular pop-in clip attached to the locking mechanism, allowing it to move up and down.... The long metal pin got trapped between the door and the car body, locking it made it worse, the mechanism wasn't strong enough to unlock it (it was trying to pull up rather than push the pin up as normal) so I had to give it a good hard yank and broke the plastic clip

Got it sort of back in when I reassembled the door, but it rattles almost all the time now. My brain has tuned it out mostly, but it catches my attention on bumpy roads and annoys the hell out of me. The foam is in there as in the video above, so the only solution would be a new part. And taking the door card off again. Which I'll do only when I have to
