ok I did a 2 step repair on this as I was suffering from MAJOR squeeking so here is what worked for me for everyone's benefit:
1)Placed felt and glued it to the metal hinges as depicted in the pics above...fixed the annoying rattling when hitting road bumps....
BUT I now had lots of squeeking coming from underneath the centre plastic console (i.e that plastic that sits on top of that metal hinge that I just repaired). After shaking violently with my hand the metal hinge I could easily recreate the squeeking noise....lead me to conclude that it was rubbing underneath hence creating the squeek...
Sooo on to step 2...
2)Jammed folded up thick felt under plastic between the metal hinge and plastic console, enough to raise the centre console a bit and put it under slight pressure....and Bingo!
Did a test run and not a squeek left! Previously I had to have the radio on very loud to camouflage the noise.
