Rattle In Front Of Passenger Seat

I've an irritating little rattle in front of the passenger seat which occurs at very low revs. It sounds as if it may be in the region of the air vent/dash. I checked the door trim which seems OK. I've removed the air vent & checked it, reassembled it & tightened the two screws; tried to check behind the vent area too. Haven't checked under the bonnet yet. Any thoughts or suggestions would be most welcome!

Rattles can be hard to find. :headbang:
You might try Roadfly.com, do a search using "rattle." I found 331 results.

I had problems with the clips inside the dash that hold on the Al trim rattling. I eventually cured it with bits of blue tack :!:

Have a look at this http://www.rattlebuster.com/

the inventor was interviewed on the radio. Apparently main dealers use it as one guy can find the rattles instead of sending two out, one to drive, and one to investigate.

would love to know if it works.

I'm beginning to wonder if the occasional rattle is a vibration coming from the plastic air vent on the dashboard. Anyone got any thoughts or advice about this please?

Sorry I can't resist...Maybe the nut behind the wheel is loose?

May want to check the fasteners for the dash itself, if you want to delve that far into it. I understand that they can come loose after a period of time.

I feel like if the car is hot inside and I get in and crank the air up it causes little crackling/settling sounds coming from the dash area. Is that what you're hearing?

If you pull out the LH & RH air vents then you should be able to get your hand behind the dash and locate the retaining clips. I found these were loose and causing the irritating rattle in my car.
