Rattle as I set off...

How often should one need a new clutch?

Went for a spirited drive, and still drives beautifully, but as I lifted the peddle a couple of times (half engaging the clutch) when i got home it made a faint sort of tapping scrape sound... She's done 37500 miles, Wondering if its time to pay the garage a visit...

Mines on 105k with the original clutch. That includes Welsh hoons, track days and 2 'Ring trips a year over the last 5 years.

Not the diff? Sometimes diffs will need re-lubrication, sounds like a mechanical clunky tapping sound as you lift off the accelerator etc.

Let the car cool down and seems to have gone away... Not sure what it was but hey...

Thanks for the input, I'll keep an ear out!

Mine has endured 40,000 miles of my abuse and 20,000 miles of use by an unknown on it's original clutch. I always rev match and double de-clutch so the clutch and synchro have a fairly easy life on down changes, but I'm sure the clutch suffers when I pull away hard from stationary. I try to let the slip occur between tyres and Tarmac rather than at the friction interfaces and very rarely do I smell hot clutch.
In lesser cars, I've had problems with the synchro on third gear likely due to being over enthusiastic with up-changes at the redline from second to third. In my TT I actually managed to break the gear selector fork for third gear!...although it was only about of 10mm of cast metal (?steel) so it was always at risk of fatigue failure.
