Range Rover Evoque

I drove the SD4 Evoque a while back as I seem to have been given the task of being the family car buyer/tester and my mother in law wanted one. Driving it was a bit of a non event, it was just dull and it completely failed to evoque any feeling other than that of boredom in me (do you see what I did there?). I also felt it was a bit stupid in that it had none of the benefits that usually come with a mid or large sized 4x4. i.e. space, versatility and good all round visibility. In terms of the later it was especially bad, i would actually say it verges on being dangerous in terms of the visibility out of the rear window and rear quarters. It was this point that turned my mother in law off although she did nearly go for it mainly because it "looked pretty" says it all really.

I feel that these cars are mainly aimed at vein people (yes my mother in law falls into this category) who want a car as a fashion accessory and don't really give a stuff what the driving experience is like. They are for people who want admiring glances from other materialistic twats who know nothing about cars... their, i've said it

I don't mean to offend the OP personally. You are clearly a man that appreciates a car that drives well going by what's in your sig. These cars are just not meant for people who appreciate the driving experience.

Breaker try here for the best forum on evoques ... One of a set of forums which cover modern land rovers... http://babyrr.com/forum/index.php

If you decide to go for one I can recommend Lakeland Landrover in Cumbria .

Mow flow has some valid points about visibility in the evoque and for me it lacks the command driving position of the rest of the range.

The X6 to me is pointless if I was going for something of that size I'd go for the Porsche Cayenne.

The Evoque I drove was a top of the range petrol. In sport mode the suspension stiffened quite a bit and it handled well I thought.

I would love to get one but when i am semi retired living in the countryside. Currently in my 20s and working in Birmingham, hence the Z4C.(yes you most definitely need a 3.0si in inner city). Still should be plenty of used examples cos they are selling like hot cakes 8)
