Random Boot Opening Problem

Hi, I have only had my 2003 Z4 for a couple of weeks and I keep finding the boot has opened of its own accord. So far I have only noticed this at home but I am starting to get paranoid that this will happen whilst I am parked elsewhere with something of value in the boot. I do carry my keys in my pocket but I can't imagine the buttons are that sensitive and why only the boot? Any help would be appreciated. :?

I would often get this on my old E46 330, it was down to the fact the button was sometimes pushed while carrying them in my pocket.

To eliminate this as a possibility just make sure you don't carry your keys in your pocket when you are within range of the car. I am sure you will find the mysterious opening boot will stop...

Happens to me to, as said, I'm confident it's the button being pressed whilst your keys are in your pocket!

Dunno if its the same as I had on my e39 fiver, but potentially it could be a wiring harness issue. Poss internal wires may be chaffed, the plastic can split (if the boot is slammed too often) exposing the inner wires and if they touch together then shorts and pops the boot. the solution is fiddly but easy as its a matter of wrapping exposed wires in electrical tape. Of course this may not help as have nt checked the boot wiring harness is similar to the 5 series!

Got to agree with others 99% certain you will be triggering the key in you pocket.
