Racing Dynamic Wheels

Hi All

Just a quick bit of advice needed. I am in the process of purchasing a set of 18" Racing Dynamic RD2 Alloys. Seems like a good deal but am a bit concerned with the offset. The fronts are fine (225/40/18). Bit concerned with the rear however (255/35/18). From my experience on here most are set up with a 8.5inch rear offset. Will i have difficulties with a 9inch rear wheel (ie rubbing etc).

Offset is not the width.

Offset is usually listed as ETxx or ET-xx - where 'xx' is the distance in mm from the centre point.

The description that i have is :-

Fronts - 8inc ET35 fitted with 225/40/18 tyres
Rears - 9inc ET32 fitted with 255/35/18 tyres

I have been told that they fit E90/91/92 and Z4 cars so assume there will be no issue. Just though I would put it out to the wise and the good of this great forum.

Am I wrong that someone on here was moaning about Racing Dynamics the other week ? Saying they were delivered damaged and the seller didn't want to know ?

Sorry if I'm wrong, just rings a bell.

Racing Dynamics may ring a bell as I've been chirping on about their induction kit!

As far as I'm aware Racing Dynamics have a good reputation in the US - cursory look didn't find a UK distributor. Where you buying from Mafoo or are you importing?
 
They are through eBay with a company called BM Autosport. Some members off here recommeded them as a genuine supplier of wheels. The rims themselves are German made

Can anyone confirm that that are good suppliers before I buy ???
 
The 18" RD2 wheels on the RD website lists an offset of et32 and et47 front & rear respectively for a Z4 - and the same for an e90 3-series, so the one with an offset of et35/et32 combo is not for an e85/e90 according to Racing Dynamics.

I can't find any 18" RD2 wheels on the RD website with the offsets you've been offered - doesn't mean they're not genuine as RD may have simply decided to only offer one offset instead of many.

Cheers again five. I will give that number a call tomorrow to see if they can further advise. I would have thought that they will be genuine as the company only deals with BMW wheels thus their reputation relies on such matters.

They may simply be an older model of the RD2 (which has been around for over 10 years) which was available in those offsets.
Although my understanding was RD wheels were Italian-made, so if the wheels say 'made in Germany' and RD UK say they are all made in Italy, then someone's got their info wrong.

Would look good as a replacement for Z4M wheels too :thumbsup:

I was supplied a year of manufactuer of 2007 so that could explain the offset difference. Now you have put the picture up i had better hurry and make a decision before someone else jumps in lol
 
Good News

The wheels are the correct offset for the Z4 (35f, 32r offset). The e32, e47 figures quoted above were a bit of a red herring. These are not the offsets mearly a part of the coding (was sent further photos of the rears of the alloys that showed this coding on one spoke and the offset on another. Also cleared up the "Made in Germany" issue. They are stamped with "made in Italy" so assume the word "Germany" simply meant that they were for a German Car ???

Anyway, all paid for and will be with me tomorrow. Very nice company to deal with (I will say highly recommended once I have the wheels). They said that the Alloys were such good a condition they want me to take a few photos to put onto their website.

This means ............................. freedom from runflats. Im hoping (and praying) that everything written on here re: improved ride on Non RFT is true.

I can't speak for BM Autosport but the rims should be great. Here in the USA, I had RD wheels on my E36 and liked them so well that I moved them to my E46 back in the late 90's into the mid 2000's The product was excellent IMO. I bought mine from Bavarian Autosport (they currently don't deal them anymore) and needed a replacement rim that I bunged up and bought from Racing Dynamics directly. The fitment advice supplied by both the dealer and manufacturer regarding offsets was all correct. I never had any problems with them. Good Luck.
