Quote for Work - Thoughts?

Hello,

Just had a quote from a place I've not used before after my usual indie wasn't very happy that I wanted to supply my oil last time it went in for it's yearly change. They've quoted me £300.56 for the following work, seems quite reasonable to me, this is with me supplying all the parts. What do others think? One of the owners used to be a Master Tech at a BMW main dealer and the other one also worked there, although they don't advertise as a BMW Specialist.

Brake Fluid Change
Oil Change
Front ARB Drop Links Replaced
Rear Trailing Arm Bushes Replaced
Full Alignment

Always a bit daunting taking your pride and jot somewhere new!

Neil

I'd also have changed garages if they didn't like me supplying my own oil and parts that I wanted fitted.

I don't have any thoughts on the rest though

There's quite a bit of work there — if that's including VAT I'd say that's not bad. 5hrs work at £60 an hour ?

Fluids an hour.

Drop links and front ARB bushes an hour.

Rear arm bushes an hour.

3 hours give or take, depending how seized the bolts and drop links are so lets be generous and say 4 Hours tops.

Hey just Imo obviously.

I think that's a good price to be fair your defiantly not being ripped off that's for sure.

Do they actually do the alignment themselves or take it somewhere else, in which case you will be paying labour rates for someone to sit at the alignment place. Best to take it in yourself.
Must admit I am always shocked at labour rates for work requiring no technical skill or specialist equipment but I quess thats the way it is these days if you dont feel confident doing it yourself.

That price is including VAT, I don't really have the time, space, or equipment (I know there's not much needed but that's exactly what I have!) to do it myself, however satisfying it would be, I agree, they are hardly complicated jobs.

I'm not sure if they do the alignment in house or take it somewhere else, when I had it done last year after fitting some new bits and bobs it was £72 anyway.
