Quick soundproofing job

I found a bit of the soundproofing left over from when I rebuilt the doors a couple of months back. Not enough to store and too expensive to throw..

Found the perfect place inside the boot. 2 shapes were cut to fit the centre of the lid, but it still sounded tinny. I removed the 2 pull down handles and found several double skinned bits that rattled and also access to more of the outer skin and rear panel where the roundel fits. Stuck it on there in whatever shapes would fit and the result is so much better. Boot closes with no tinny sound and feels much more solid :)

I had some Brown Bread (similiar to other sound deadening products) that was leftover and did a similar installation. With my rear panel to hide it made the decision easy. I also removed the underside panel (lamp access etc) and installed it inside. I believe it made a difference, especially considering that I have a 12" sub mounted in the trunk/boot.

blimey, at this rate we'll need a separate c10jeeper section of the forum.... nice work!

We already do,,,,it's the DIY section :P

Between Jeeper and Shipkiller, I think we can do anything to our cars now, besides major mechanic work

LOL... Jeeper, with petrol prices at £1.10 a litre here maybe you could consider a mod to make our vehicles run on baked beans next?.. C'mon, we all know you can do it!!!! :D

Saw a video some guy claiming to run his car on 50% water. That would do me just fine :)

BTW I can do pretty much any major mechanic stuff. Not needed on Zed's. I save that for the Jeeps that are fun to work on as they are good old fashioned heavy bits of metal and few eelectronics or sealed for life stuff.

Sorry to sound "no Pun " stupid, can someone explain what insulation in these locations are inporoved :headbang:
Is the cabin quieter?

Thanks,
Bob

In this instance I doubt it made much difference the cabin, other than cutting down some booming. My reason was to take away the tinny noise when opening and closing the boot lid. Now sounds heavier and a better quality.

When I did the doors that was to quieten the cabin, improve the sound system quality and make the doors feel like a better quality product - and it worked

Hope this clarifies

^Another words Bob, along what Jeep is saying, helps improve the sound of a heavier BMW door/trunk shutting..if you haven't noticed before, it's a huge difference between the Z4 and, say a 3 Series for example..
