Quick bit if advice ?

So a spring went yesterday with a huge bang whilst I was thankfully stopped , fine it has happened to most people and I won't discuss that here as I'm sure it is a boring topic by now .

Just wondering though as nobody back at home is sure - can i drive it to a garage without risking damage to the dampener and other components or would anyone advise a pick up by my breakdown service? Nearest Indie is 25 miles away I think ... Local garage which does my MOTs is 5 miles.

Thanks for any pointers. Just it has dropped pretty significantly (i'd call the garage but both are shut and I want to drop it off Sunday night otherwise I'll struggle getting it to them)

I drove mine for about 200-300 miles before finding out it had a broken spring. I'm sure it had a broken spring when I bought it and the garage replaced it without a quibble. Mine only had a single loop broken whereas your break looks higher up but I think if you take it easy you'll be fine with 5 miles.

Get a pair of springs delivered and swap them yourself. Not a difficult job. If you don't like getting your hands dirty I would slowly and steadily drive it the 5 miles to your local garage to get it sorted there. Wouldn't take the risk of driving the extra 20 miles unless the Indy was at least £50 cheaper.

If you drive with a known defect and have a traffic incident then your insurance may refuse a pay out and if you are at at fault then your liability in terms of criminal charges may significantly increase. Perhaps as Grey Zed suggests a steady drive to your local garage or do it yourself.
