Questions from a E89 newbie

Hi all - will be picking up my new E89 2.0 M sport on Friday and pondering what’s in store for me - just wondering if all e89 ‘s are fitted with Xenons and are they any good ? - my e85 thats being traded in has halogens and they are like candles so hoping for a better night driving experience- also do most e89 drivers change from the standard run flats - I did in the e85 as the ride was very fidgety with them - but wondered if the e89 is better tuned for them - sure I ll have lots of other questions once I pick her up thanks in advance -Greg

Congratulations on your purchase. I like the headlights on mine (2011), not sure whether they are xenon but I think they are. The PO of my car changed the tires to 'normal', non run-flats. I just put new Falkens on and the ride is pretty good despite them being so flat (19 inch wheels).

I also changed to non RFTs on my E85, which made a huge difference. However, I recently picked up my E89 which has virtually new runflats fitted on 19". My plan was to get shot of them straight away, but I must say the car is much better on them than the E85 was - no jittery tram-lining at all. Is still a very firm ride, with the sport suspension, but other than that very good. My current thinking is to leave the RFTs on until they wear out and then make the switch.

Mine came with RFT's. I ran them for a couple of weeks or so before switching wheels/tyres. I didn't find the ride overly harsh or tramlining, however they were on 17" wheels, so the extra sidewall may have given more 'cushioning'? If your m-sport has 19" (I think most of them did with that option/package?) then your experience may be very different.
Looking forward to pics of the new ride when you get it

Get the runflats off & sold , they sell well on ebay or gumtree so use the money to offset the cost of the new rubber .
Headlights / if your E89 is pre 2014/2015 consider a pair of these bulbs as a upgrade to the stock yellow angels , really makes a difference to appearance though zero effect on beam https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Angel-Eyes-H8-120W-CREE-LED-Marker-Halo-Light-For-BMW-E82-E90-E92-E60-E61-E63-U2/312612291451?fits=Car+Make%3ABMW&hash=item48c925037b:g:gg8AAOSw8S5c3TRx

Thanks for all the reply's looking forward to picking the new car up on Friday - Thanks for the tip re the angel eyes I noticed they looked a bit yellow so this can be the first upgrade-(are they easy to change) probably the first of many. Will see how the tyres go as need to save my pocket money up again before more spending

Angel Eyes are easy to fit, remove cover, remove old bulb, put new LED bulb in place, replace cover
Oh yes remove the run flats :driving:
Enjoy driving it 8)

I just got some, cree Halo replacements from Ebay, they come with a lead with some metal heat diffusers on, but I am worried that they will get too hot and melt any cables they may come in contact with. I also noticed that after fitting my radio would no longer play radio 1, and other channels developed a crackle.

Thoughts?

It may well be the LED halo bulbs some do give interference with the radio. Best way to check is to remove them and put the normal halogen bulbs back in and see if the problem goes away.
