Question about tool kits and flat tyres

Ok, just a simple one really, not had the Z for long.

Does the Z4 have a tool kit, think mine is missing as theres a nice empty cubby hole next to the battery?

Also, did the Z4 come with a jack, or is there one that is sold that fits in anywhere?

Reason i ask is that i don't have run flats and i've heard that the goo stuff that you can pump in damages the 'runflat' sensor?

Any help would be appreciated.

Thanks, Rob.

Yeah my toolkit is in the space next to the battery, under the floor. It's a cheapo red and black (fake) leather holder with screwdriver, spanner, locking-wheel nut etc.

No jack as far as I know. Not seen any specific 3rd party ones for the z4 either.

The runflat sensor is hard to pin down but as far as I can figure out...

Euro models monitor the pressure using the normal ABS sensor. American models actually contain a dedicated pressure sensor for each wheel. Therefore you shouldn't have an issue with any sensor damage if you use 'goo'.

However, I have read that it sticks rock-hard to the insides of the wheel and can be a bugger to clean off before fitting the new tyre.

There should be a small tool kit

next to the battery, there was no jack supplied with the Z4 as it was on RFT's however the jack off an E46 3 series or in fact any late model BMW will fit.

Run Flat sensors vary between Pre & Post Facelift I think.

As posted above UK/EU cars sensor runs of the ABS so it's not possible to damage with Gunk.

Dont forget if you do get a jack, you will need a wheel brace, and a spare wheel otherwise whats the point?

Good point, i just like to be able to get about the car without having to drag the trolly jack out, doesn't look like there are any good spots to hide everything you need!

What got me thinking is that i'm doing a long journey tonight and have no idea what i'd do if i got a blowout!

Just had a look at my tyres though and they have an RDC roundal on them. Guess that explains the tramlining :driving:
