Quad Exhaust

Whats the price and function difference between getting a true quad exhaust system vs a sudo quad, like the power loop?

Is there a big sound difference?

In addition, will this system, (http://www.turnermotorsport.com/p-184216-e85-z4-30si-supersprint-power-loop-muffler-for-dual-exhaust-conversion-4x80mm-tips.aspx?utm_source=goog_product&utm_medium=feed&utm_campaign=981406&gclid=CNr9tYulxr8CFcVAMgodJ3EA_A) work on a 3.0i?

Thanks!

Your into pure custom world so the price is what you want it to be, how much work you do, local supplier willingness, etc. Did my true quad for a few hundred ££'s but sourced new ///M boxes off eBay for £21 and did most work myself. Local shop did all the pipe bending. Reckon on £2k to just hand to a shop to do inc battery box, pipes, new back boxes and bodywork.

T pipe is cheap and cheerful. Any custom exhaust shop can weld up a tube and cut the bodywork.

Former is much better performance, latter no difference.

Sound on a T pipe will be the same. Mine sounds way healthier, without being noisy. Any back box can be added to change the sound to whatever you want.

Cannot comment on the linked one other than seriously expensive and still needs the bodywork changes

I have done a few of the T off type conversions for members and myself. A bypass pipe (search on hear) and some wadding removed can make the car sound really nice. Not to loud and no drone but a nice rasp.

As cj says its all custom you could pay a few hundred and get a tee off or thousands for a full custom made exhaust. I would say that the exhaust in the link would be easy to fit but it is very expensive. If you where in the uk i could/would help you out. Where about in the us are you? Is there anyone on hear that can weld locally to you?

Shame i am going to Miami on holiday i might have been able to pop by and fit one. I will take lots of pictures of the ones i make and how i fit them. You can then see if you can get a shop near you to build and install something similar if you like what you see.

Much of a Zed community out there sbottum622? I'm in Chicago for most of August :o Was tempted to look into some sort of weekend car-based activity.

Get me a plus one Jimmy and sbottum buys my beer i will come and fit it

The tuning industry in the USA is massive you wont have any trouble finding someone to do it.

Unfortunately, there doesn't seem to be a huge following. I live in a pretty wealthy area, with some of the wealthiest areas surrounding, and I only know of like 5 other zeds in total....

Also, I'm trying to decide between doing the quad exhaust, doing the supersprint power loop, and purchasing a custom made exhaust from a guy on another z4 forum.

Any opinions?

Without doubt the T is the cheap and cheerful option. Avoids all the aggro of moving or redesigning the battery location and extra pipework.

I'm just a purist and enough skill to do most if it myself.

If it helps here's the project I undertook from research to the various stages. Photos on page 8

Car changed a bit after as I modded the lights to 4 white spot and blacked the lower part of the back boxes.

You don't have to mod the battery box. I am doing mine at the moment and I haven't had to touch it. I have had to relocate the duke breathe box thing (I have no idea what that's called) but that in its self is not a ten minute job! And I have had to make some quite small silencers. And I doubt they will be very silent!

I have made my own but you can buy all the bits on line for a true quad. Pipe bends the small silencers. You will need to learn to weld though.

I used genuine ///M boxes and had to halve the battery box and fume filter.
No fount if you used tiny back boxes there are different ways to do kg.
Mine was driven by having ///M boxes availae
