Purple HID

Hi

My near side headlamp bulb has developed a fault today whereby the HID bulb has turned a dim purple colour rather than the standard white.

Anyone else experienced anything similar?

Headlamp level stil works on start up so assuming not the ballast, and hopefully just the bulb. A pain but better than a full new unit!

I would say its just the bulb, as they normally go purple/pink when they are on the way out
 
Yea confirmed today. Just need to try and find the best price now.

£215 quoted from BMW Solihull!

If anyone has any idea of good places to buy it'd be greatly appreciated!

I was under the impression, from another thread, that xenon bulbs are designed to outlast the life of the car.

I know you say you have got it confirmed by BMW, but to be honest i dont trust their problem solving skills. Could you do a right/left swap over and check to see if it really is the bulb or perhaps the ballast etc?
