Pulled over !!!

first time in 48 years of driving

Driving back from picking up some friends who had been on holiday ( in our Fiesta ) got pulled over by Mr Plod .

" do you know why we pulled you over ? "

" Not really - please enlighten me "

" What part of the road do you normally drive on ? "

" Well actually on the left "

" we have been following you for a while and noticed you have on two occasions brushed the middle white line with your front wheels - have you been drinking ? "

" no but you can breathalise me if you want "

Didn't make me take a breath test or ask for licence but did give me a lecture on the dangers of driving near the middle white line in respect of oncoming motorcycles.

Wasn't that annoyed - found it all rather entertaining - presume as it was past 10pm and I was driving a little slower than usual ( my friends were rabbiting on about their holiday ) they probably thought I had been drinking but needed an excuse to pull me over.

"

Interesting as often the middle line is the best position to see the most of the road depending on the curve of the road.

Driving a Fiesta, at that time of night, Is like being from an ethnic minority was, back in the 70's. Almost Guaranteed to get pulled.

Indeed, police response drivers are taught to drive near the crown of the road where possible for the best view but yeah probably assumed you were a drink driver, I guess no harm done!

Are motorcycles supposed to be in the middle of the road? I hate this.
Well if they're on their side of the road they can position themselves wherever they choose, again for the best view. Crossing over the White lines onto the other side of the road on bends is another matter though and seems to be an annoying trend at the moment with cars as much as bikes. If that's the case then yeah I hate that too, if you've had to straddle the White line to make a bend then your driving too fast simple as.

Agree with that Andy, the biggest gripes I have are
them driving between lanes
weaving between lanes and cars to overtake
and coming onto oncoming traffics side of the road!
:headbang:

And now ethnic minorities dish out parking fines :D

If a drunk driver came down the road and took you out it would be fair to ask what the Police were doing about drink drivers. Nice to see the cops out doing their job

I've been stopped 3 times, twice as a youngster for driving like a dick and once on the motorway at a proper licence-losing speed only mitigated by it being 5am on a summers morning and the Traffic bod wanting to chat about my pristine GTV6. Each time a little humble pie paid off and I escaped with a stern warning so I've no beef personally.

Maybe he was hoping you would do a runner and fail to stop, nothing like a good chase. Or so I see in the movies. None involve a Fiesta yet though!

100% agree. My daughter drove into a pub, pulled a U turn and drove off. Seconds later old bill pulled her and breathalyser job. She wasn't drinking (never does) but old bill was doing his job and just explained he thought she saw him and was legging it, when in fact she'd forgotten house keys.

Eldest got a right shooing for speeding and let off with a lot of finger wagging

Both drive aware they are being watched and are better for it.

I think you got off lightly. The police should have thrown the book at you for driving a Fiesta. :D :poke:

... full of youths and showing off :D
