PS4 announcement!!! Thoughts?

Just had a wander looking for that TV - you can get a 40" on for less than a grand, thought's not OLED.

Found an LG LED one - 85", full 3d, 7 pairs of glasses, split screen perspective gaming set up blah bah - £20k :o

Just as well I don't have a room big enough or I might be tempted :|

Apparently the PS3 is very hard to write software for, so they need to sort that out for the 4 for starters.

Really, no backwards compatibility, again ? I think I'd rather keep the PS3 for Blu-ray and buy an Xbox for myself...

I think PS2 games were only compatible on the first generation PS3 which was annoying.

I held off on a PS2 until GT4 came out and I bought a slim line one for much less.

I held off on a PS3 until GT5 came out and I bought a slim line one for much less (start of last year).

So in a few years, when GT6 comes out on the PS4, the console drops to a reasonable sum, and there are some decent games to choose from... that;s most likely when I'll switch :thumbsup:
 
okay I can see people are unsure on the specs and yes it wasnt really covered that well but here is what we do know:

thats pretty much all the info so far, as for comparison to the PS3 its blu ray drive is far superior, the ram is out of this world in comparison to the 256mb of ram and 256mb dedicated vram on the ps3

as for games, to be honest i think you will notice a large difference straight away with how quickly they load and how smoothly they run :)

and someone else has posted about 4K, i don't think it will support 4k games but will be capable of 4K video, but then again i do believe that the PS3 is only 720p for games, correct me if Im wrong, and 180p for video...

I think they will be upping games to 1080p though? not sure but E3 will be fun and from a performance perspective it would be intering to see what xbox come out with, hopefully it wont go down hill...

It all seemed rushed to me. Like they wanted to get some info and hype out there before the xbox turns up.

I always have both consoles as im a tech geek looking forward to this year gaming wise. Driveclub looks promising. I thought the presentation was a bit empty on content tbh but at least we know its this year!

My thought exactly. Desperate move for a desperate company.

Spec's do look good but how can you get excited about a controller and a spec sheet.

If its going to be releaed this winter then surely they have an idea of what the thing will look like - Well why not show us???

I always buy the latest when they come out (as i did with PS, PS2, PSP, PS3 and Vita) but i really dont think i'll bother this time and wait for the nextbox.

Only thing for me that Sony has over MS is Playstation Plus.
 
I'll probably stick with my first gen PS3 (which is still going strong. Upgraded the hard drive last year to 500GB) Never had a problem with it which is more than I can say for some XBOX owners I know! :P

Never had a problem with either, had a launch xbox (sold after 3 years to get an Elite) and a launch PS3 - still going strong.

Only issue I've had is with the PS3 hard drive which I swapped for a 500GB.
 
I sometimes wish i could get into gaming. I used to super glue myself to my PS1 and complete everything that came out. But now, anymore than an hour on a console and i feel like im wasting my life. Maybe im just too old or too busy these days. :? Those promos all look so damn cool too :( :D
