the standard z4m style is 255/40/18.... would this make a massive difference

If you have a Z///M car on 224s i would stick with the 255 40 non runflat tyres
If not then depending on front tyre set up no reason why you can't change the size

I've never had run-flats on mine, how much difference is there in reality?

I need new rears soon-ish

it's very noticeable.

i ditched run flats on the mini and it was night and day difference. i believe run flats don't perform as well and are heavier and louder. bumps are also more noticeable.

the up side is if you get a flat you can get to drive it up to 50mph for half an hour. they however i believe cannot be repaired after you have driven them flat.

i have run flats on the front of my z4 (which will be getting replaced when worn) and normal tyres on the rear. You can change them in pairs so long as it's the same axle. like both front or both rear. however you cannot mis match fronts or rears.

Cheers for the info mate. I'll give em a miss then! :D

i did say some like them & some don't  from my Z experience if you get lumbered with a bad one then no matter what rubber is on it will feel unstable , twitchy & at some points unsafe over 65/70mph :o
Very often it can be the suspension or geometry set up that may have been messed with at some point .
Non runflats do help mask some issues but ultimately if you want the RF piece of mind youhave to put up with them , id also add that imo the issues many find with them accentuate as the age /tread / tyre wears down & is not as prominent with brand new ones

That is such a bargain - a previous owner of my Z4 paid over £300 for one Bridgestone that size over 4 years ago!

I would have jumped at them, but mine are barely half-worn and I've nowhere to put them. :(

So far as repairs go, it seems to depend who you go to! Martins Tyres in Bisley (who seem to get frequent mentions on here and other fora/forums) repaired a Pirelli 205/50 x 17 on my 123d and I used it for more than 10,000 miles with no issues! (And it only cost a tenner). :D

If your sale falls through I would still be interested if you PM me - thanks!

I have run flats at the moment, with 18" wheels but the rears on mine are 255/40/18.
would I notice a massive change going to 255/35?
I have just ordered new arms due to a very keen mot man:(
