Proud Dad moment...

Congrats Perry - and well done to your son!

Mine went through this last year - he didn't like Cambridge/UNMIST/London (or either of my old Uni's), and ended up opting for Lancaster (who offered A*AA), where he is also doing a Physics based degree (his is Astrophysics). Its been fun and games so far, Mum with the empty nest syndrome (how many projects can she start up??) and son with the "burn candle at both ends" approach to Uni life.

Ah, I remember those days... :) now I have trouble staying awake long enough to burn the candle in the middle... :(

Yeah some of them are a real worry!! Most are clever enough not to hurt themselves.

I recall providing you with an alcohol wipe after you sliced your hand kindly turning my strut brace around..

That should mean that you're better at not hurting yourself...

Anyway, a PhD just means that the bullshit they come out with is Piled Higher & Deeper

Great stuff tell him to come see me if he takes the offer at Oxford. I run the mechanical teaching workshop hear in the physics department
Will do Matt - do you teach the undergrads how to use tools without losing fingers and toes then? That could be interesting...
no, last year mat tried cutting his own legs off did a good job too :D

Congratulations - all that good parenting pays off.
I know the feeling - my daughter is going through the college application process and receiving very nice acceptances from really good schools.
The only down side is that she has decided to go to University of Vermont - 3000 miles away, and oh yeah...$50k per year.

Congrats to both of you, I got stupidly high marks in Physics so I can understand your pride in the boy. Hope he does well
