Programmable key.

Hi All, does anyone know what you can have progamed in to the key? Mine will open the roof if you hold the open button down but it will not close it or fold my mirrors or open the boot separately off the key when the rest of the car is locked.
 
Chris, you can open the top (but not close it) on European cars with the key fob. In some counties you need to unlock the car before you can open the boot with the key not sure if the UK is one - think there is something in the handbook about this. To be able to close the top or partially open the boot for access with the key fob you need to have an optional extra called "comfort access" fitted to your car. You can get a third party accessory fitted that will allow you to do all that you want but it is quite expensive. BMW will also frown on this at service time and may void your warranty.
 
Not sure about the E89 but on the E85 - roof open AND close, boot open (with car locked) and door opening. No to folding mirrors as that has to be done from the drivers door switch. Comment on the Forum that there are modules to do this but not much success for those fitted. Not sure how comfort access operates on the newer models - best to refer to the manual for that.
 
Thanks for the reply Stafainn. The main feature I am after is to fold my mirrors on locking and to open the boot when the rest of the car is locked. I'll call my local dealer tomorrow to see what can be done and post it up on here.
