Production Numbers - Z4 Coupe

For anyone that was wondering how rare their Z4 Coupe is I contacted BMW (sad, I know  ) to find out total production numbers and they advised:

BMW Z4 3.0si Coupe (manual) = 1598 :driving:

BMW Z4 3.0si Coupe (Automatic) = 1998

Afraid I don't have the numbers for Z4M Coupes but with only 3,600 Z4 3.0 Coupes in the world this will explain why its a blue moon moment when I see one driving the other way. I'm surprised so many are autos but I assume a lot of these are in the US where there are probably more autos per head than in Europe...

My next question, which BMW won't be able to answer, but maybe someone here can, is how does this compare with other sports cars - are there more Ferrari 308/328's around than Z4C's for example. Would be nice to say my Z4 is rarer than a Ferrari/TVR/Cayman etc!

More automatics than manuals! is that right ? when you do a search on autorader there are always more manuslas for sale than auto's ? wierd.

Nice to know I am in such an exclusive club  The lack of coupes on the roads of the UK was one of my main reasons for wanting one! :driving:

did they say what quanities were sold where?

even though its not quite as exclussive, i think i'd swap for a DB7 lol

I agree, they must only be UK numbers. I think the last I read somewhere, the total Z4C build was closer to 20,000 (worldwide). But I may be wrong...

i think 20,000 sounds more realistic, but i'm sure in UK the total for manual would be more than auto, so may be 3500 is a true figure

The last car was made on 28 August, with 197,950 vehicles produced over the Z4's five-year lifecycle. Bobby Hit, a spokesman for BMW's US manufacturing operations, states that 180,856 vehicles were roadsters and 17,094 were coupes. Despite the name, the latter was in fact a hatchback.

The last car to be made will remain at the factory for display in the Zentrum, the museum and visitors' centre.

wow, if the last made remains in the factory, then mine must be 2nd last made lol

seriously though, i wonder how many were made in August

Hmmm... I e-mailed BMW.com thinking I'd get a reply from Germany and got a reply from BMW UK so maybe these are UK only numbers (in which case my mistake and I apologise  ) - although I did ask them for TOTAL numbers :headbang: . Still, even if the figure is just 3,600 for UK (plus Z4MC's) we're still a pretty exclusive gang 8) - most of the Chimaera production, for example will have stayed home in the UK so that remains a good example of exclusivity in my book. Interesting to see the Top Gear boys took the shell off an old Chimaera chassis for a "project" recently - must have made a few TVR owners wince!

I drive down the M1 every day for 40 miles and have seen one other Z4C in six months. And a few vectras.

figures don't seem right for uk, when i was looking for mine on autotrader there was always far more manual that auto

on epbrown's signature he as the following info:
