just fitted cruise control following the BMW distructions and topics on here, had to disengage itas it seem to mess with the temperature gage and was engaging the main cooling fan.
Any body else have this issue, pointers etc.
Have tested wires and when conector pulled out of paddle all is ok so do feel as if the wiring is good.
conected to pin 27 and 31 on loom and in pin 4 under bonnet as 2.0 l 56 plate
cheers in advance

"under the bonnet" means the DME unit with many dozens of pins in the electrics box by the firewall?
Verify you have correctly identified the right pin, there are cooling related pins nearby.

Couple of things to be aware of are that the official instructions for the N52 engine (3.0) are wrong and you have to follow the M54 instructions for routing the blue wire. As your car is a facelift 2.0 I'm guessing it's the N46 engine which according to BMW instructions is meant to be the same as the N52, so maybe the wire should go to pin 39 as it should for the N52.

Other thing is, did you make sure you cut wires 27 and 31 or did you cut the wires that where the same colour? There are 2 violet/yellow wires and 2 brown/black wires in the loom behand the steering column. Need to make sure you follow them the whole way back to the pin blocks,

hi thanks for your replys

yes did mean the DME but the letters escaped me when I was typing out :)

I have rechecked it and from the bmw instructions it was to go into pin 4 which was also empty but fair point on that as will go back and recheck the pins but reasonably sure i got the right one for my engine.

however as Tex has pointed out that I may need to follow a different pin and put it in 39 instead of 4 as i have so will check that out now

deff did cut wires from 27 and 31 as rechecked and confirmed (wire 32 same colour as 31 which i thought i may have got wrong but i was correct.)

cheers for all your help in this
