Problem trying to fit H8 LED replacements

I am having problems with fitting my H8 replacements. They are CREE 80w LEDS, but have a fan fitted. This seems to stop me being able to line up the lugs to insert into the lamp holder.
I originally ordered 100W V10s, but the company I ordered from no longer supply these due to quality issues. So I was sent these instead.
Anyone else used these at all?

I don't think they'll physically fit and allow the covers back on. Also, have you seen how poor the beam pattern is on these?

Mike

Not seen spread pattern no. How could i check this up front?
Going to send them back anyway I think. I don't want to spend a fortune, any recommendations? Please 8)
I'll re read the other threads about this in the meantime.

Beam pattern? On halo rings?

I've not seen this type before, they do look bulky. Mine have been in around 3 years now and are fine albeit lower power;

E89 has Xenon headlights as standard.

Managed to get one in to see what it looks like. Pleased with the result.
However, the only way I can mount them is by removing the fan from the LED heat sink, due to the layout of the mounting spigots. Once in place, it is hard up against the light fitting so there is no way of reattaching the fan.
Have put bulbs back in for now.

I'm assuming I'll be asking for trouble if I don't have the fan attached?

EDIT: Spoken to XenonBulbs, the supplier, and they say it'll be fine without fan, and still under warranty. Going dark now so I'll sort it tomorrow.

Unfortunately I purchased the same set of LED's for my Z4 and ran into the same issue. Did you ever fit these without the fans?

I have just fitted the same ones, what did you do with the ballasts? Any issues with heat?

I've just put the ballasts in the light housing, I don't think there should be a problem with heat. I've got a long drive on Wednesday, so will check how hot they are after that and let you know.

Same, just loose? Just did a couple hours drive myself, forgot to check, doh!

Yep, just crammed it all in!

I checked them after my 2 hour drive yesterday - one of the ballasts gets quite warm, but nothing I'm too concerned about. The actual heat sinks on the LED's barely get warm, even without those stupid fans!

I recently bought 80w and were very easy to install, just had heatsinks on. However i seen 160w ones with fans on so bought those. Really tight fit but i managed to eventually get them in. Nice bright light 😉

Any chance of pictures guys with the set up you have? Wanting to do the same but there are so many options I dont know which kit to buy!

Also, any links to where you bought from?

Thanks

Hope this helps:

Standard bulb on left, one of the Cree 80W (40W's each side) LED's on the right.

These are the Lux 180's, which are noticeably brighter than the ones above, and noticeably more expensive! Photo was taken on a much brighter day than the pic above.
